Governor de Jongh Signs Territory's Tsunami Response Plan

In a landmark achievement for the Virgin Islands emergency management system, Governor John P. de Jongh, Jr. and VITEMA Director Elton Lewis, during a brief ceremony this week, signed the territory’s first Tsunami Incident Annex which establishes guidelines for a widely-coordinated response to tsunami.

Safari Carrying 13 Passengers Veers Off the Road on Valdemar A. Hill Sr. Drive
|

Thirteen passengers riding on a safari taxi van were injured Friday morning when at 9:23 a.m. the vehicle veered off the road, careened down a private driveway and over an embankment near Beacon Point, a tourist attraction on Valdemar A. Hill Sr. Drive. The injured are all passengers on board the Serenade of the Seas cruise ship.

Full-Scale Multi-Hazard and Maritime Exercise Will Test Incident Management Capabilities for Government Agencies, Maritime Industry
|

On Tuesday, December 13, more than 30 local and federal government agencies and the maritime industry, will participate in the Territory’s annual full-scale Multi-Hazard & Maritime Exercise. The exercise, titled “Operation Tide Breaker,” is designed to test emergency responders’ incident management capabilities using the Incident Command System developed by the US Department of Homeland Security.
