Heavy Rains and Thunderstorms to Affect St. Croix 1 - 6 p.m. on Monday

Widespread Flooding Likely Across the Island

Beginning 1 p.m. and lasting through 6 p.m. today, a line of heavy showers and thunderstorms moving southwest to northeast is expected to drop 2 to 3 inches of rain on already saturated grounds on the island of St. Croix.

According to the National Weather Service, the area of showers and thunderstorms associated with an area of low pressure across the region, will move west to east across St. Croix.

VITEMA and the National Weather Services to be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a flash flood warning is issued to avoid flood-prone areas on foot or while driving. VITEMA will continue to issue updated information as it becomes available.

A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for the Virgin Islands through Tuesday afternoon.
