VITEMA’s Annual All Hazards Preparedness Expo Kicks Off on St. John
The Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency, on Thursday, kicked off the 2012 Annual All Hazards Preparedness Expo on St. John. Leona Smith, St. John Administrator, who served as Mistress of Ceremony, ushered in the start of the four-day event with introductions of the government agencies, voluntary organizations and private sector partners participating in this year’s event. Pastor Carlyle O. Sampson gave the invocation and benediction.
Agencies participating in the 2012 Expo include the Federal Emergency Management (FEMA)-Caribbean Area Division, US Small Business Administration, National Weather Service, the VI Fire Service, the VI Police Department, the VI Department of Property and Procurement, the US Corp of Engineers, US Army, VI National Guard, the US Coast Guard, VI Rescue, the American Red Cross, Innovative Corp and more.
The 2012 Expo continues today in St. Thomas at the Emancipation Garden, on Saturday at Water Island and closes on Sunday with final event at Christiansted National Park in St. Croix from 1 to 5 p.m.
